Alter Ego

Exhibit8 gallery in Limassol presents the first solo art exhibition by the distinguished artist, set and costume designer George Chiotis.

The exhibition Alter Ego, includes paintings, theatre models and sculptures that represent a comprehensive view of the manifold artistic creation of George Chiotis.

The expressive power of the paintings projects the inner universe of the artist, his relation with society, politics and the world. His artistic vocabulary is deeply influenced by the symbolic heritage of the ancient Greek culture and bridges inner exploration and a critical stance on social reality.

The surrealistic images, the tension of colour and the high aesthetic of the design serve the ability of art to stimulate the subconscious to this desired point, where the real and the imaginary head together towards an admirable balance.

The title of the exhibition draws from this dual dimension. The artist is using the alter ego, the hidden component, as a means to communicate his ideas through symbolisms.
